BJJ Barber Shop began with Jefferson (or JJ, as we know him), a passionate Brazilian barber with big dreams. JJ brought his enthusiasm for style, grooming, and community from Brazil straight to Brisbane, launching his vision in 2021—a space built around great cuts, good vibes, and genuine connections.

Meet JJ – Founder & Master Barber
With over 14 years of experience in the barbering industry, Jefferson (JJ) brings a wealth of skill, passion, and dedication to his craft. Originally from Brazil, JJ owned his own barber shop before expanding his expertise as a personal trainer. Seeking new challenges, he embarked on a journey to Australia, embracing a new culture and language while continuing to refine his barbering skills. Starting out in local barbershops in Brisbane’s CBD, JJ quickly made a name for himself, progressing to managerial roles and even broadening his knowledge by working in a hairdressing salon. Never one to settle, he also built a loyal client base by offering barbering services from home, all while keeping his sights set on his ultimate goal—opening his own barbershop. In 2021, JJ’s dream became a reality with the launch of BJJ Barber Shop in Albion. His vision was clear: to create a welcoming space where expert barbering meets genuine customer care, precision meets creativity, and every client leaves feeling their best. Today, JJ continues to grow his craft and team, seeking like-minded professionals who share his commitment to quality, community, and the art of barbering. Whether it’s a fresh cut, a beard trim, or a good conversation, JJ ensures every client gets the top-tier service they deserve. 💈✨
Meet Manollo – Senior Barber & Styling Expert
With years of experience and a deep passion for the craft, Manollo brings expert skills and precision to every cut. Originally from Brazil, he built his barbering expertise by owning and running his own successful barbershop, where he developed a strong reputation for quality and attention to detail. Eager to take on new challenges, Manollo made the move to Australia, immersing himself in a new culture while continuing to perfect his craft. His journey led him to BJJ Barber Shop, where he now provides top-tier haircuts, beard trims, and grooming services with his signature blend of skill and creativity. As a senior barber, Manollo takes pride in delivering personalised consultations, ensuring every client walks away with a style that suits their personality and lifestyle. His commitment to precision, friendly approach, and passion for barbering make him a valued part of the team.

Meet Tinoi (Tee) – The Young & Fun barber
Fresh from the island country of Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬, Tinoi (Tee) is the newest addition to the BJJ Barber Shop team! With four years of barbering experience back home, he’s all about precision cuts, great banter, and a good laugh. His happy, cheeky personality makes every visit to the shop an upbeat experience. Tinoi arrived in Australia late 2024 and is already diving into Brisbane’s barbering scene. While working at BJJ Barber Shop, he’s also upskilling and studying, fine-tuning his craft to bring even more to the chair. His love for barbering comes from the connections he builds with clients, making sure every haircut is a blend of skill and personality. When he’s not cutting hair, you’ll find Tinoi on the field or court, playing football, soccer, and volleyball—he thrives in a team environment, both in and out of the shop. Fun fact: he’s BJJ Barber Shop’s first non-Brazilian barber, adding his own unique energy to the crew. Meet Davi – Our Junior Barber & Rising Talent
Say hello to Davi, the newest junior barber on the BJJ Barber Shop team! At just 18 years old, Davi recently arrived from Brazil with big dreams, fresh energy, and a strong commitment to mastering his craft. After completing his barbering course in Brazil last year, he’s excited to continue sharpening his skills here in Australia.
Davi’s eager to learn and grow under the guidance of our senior barbers, and we’re offering special discounted rates to clients who support him as he develops his techniques. Meet Sara – Admin & Creative Guru
Sara is the friendly face you’ll often see around BJJ Barber Shop, snapping photos and filming videos for our socials. With a background in accounting, she’s been crucial in helping JJ understand the ins-and-outs of managing a thriving business, from admin tasks to ensuring everything stays organised behind-the-scenes.
She’s also our resident creative, bringing fresh ideas to life through designing posts, crafting engaging content, and sharing her vision for how the shop should look and feel. Occasionally, you might catch Sara answering JJ’s work phone—just a heads-up, she’s not yet fluent in Portuguese, but she’s always happy for clients to practice their English with her!
Outside the shop, Sara is a qualified primary school teacher with a special passion for working with children with special needs. She’s also an ESL teacher for adults. Right now, she’s diving deeper into modern marketing strategies, advertising, and website development to help the barber shop grow even further—especially important as she and JJ are expecting their very first child in just a few months! 💈📸✨
